The border town to Austria in the Bavarian administrative district of Swabia lies on the Romantic Road and the Via Claudia Augusta. It is the second largest town in the Ostallgäu and invites you to take a stroll through the old town, which has many fountains, stores and a well-preserved town wall dating back to Roman times. Bad Tölz
The town on the Isar, 50 km south of Munich, was named a “climatic health resort” in 1969 and was awarded the title of “Moorheilbad” in 2005. The craftsmen of the Middle Ages brought prosperity to the town, especially the raftsmen and the Kistler. The latter supplied the surrounding area as far as Munich with their colorfully painted furnishings, such as chests, boxes and four-poster beds.
Bad Tölz has also recently become famous for the TV series “Der Bulle von Tölz”.
